I reached out to Carl last year for a humble little 8 inch mirror. He was most pleasant and a joy to talk too. He let me know he was thinking of retiring sooner rather then later and I went ahead and made my down payment. 4 months later it was ready.
I share the views with anyone and everyone every chance I get. I like to believe Zambuto mirrors are made for outreach and the look on people's faces is worth every dollar for the views it produces on a calm clear night 👍😉
Amen to that, brother! What's the focal ratio on that one? I've got a 8" f/7.5 in a "slow dob" (the "Planet Killer" mentioned in these posts), and absolutely love it. Like the venerable 100mm refractor, there's something about an Eight that rocks. Someday I'd like to do a series on observing with one. Ed Ting mentions that platform as a favorite, too, and I heartily concur.
Thanks, Josh!

🙏👍
Its a f/5.9 or really close at 1199mm.
Ed Ting is awesome 👍
He's definitely why I bought a 8" reflector 1st on my astronomy journey and a 4" f\7 apo refractor 2nd. A series on observing would be sweet!
Thanks for this. Every night I look through my Zambuto I will remember this amazing letter.
Awesome, Jared! Do tell about your Z!
